Discover Leonardo da Vinci on Italy rental vacation

Famous Renaissance artists in Italy include esteemed Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Giovanni Bellini. Take an Italy rental vacation and see their works in such famous landmark museums as the Accademia Gallery, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and Museo Correr in Venice.

Michelangelo's David
Michelangelo's David

Michelangelo & Accademia Gallery

Michelangelo was born in Tuscany in 1475. He is considered the archetypal Renaissance Man. He was an accomplished sculptor, architect, engineer and painter and you can marvel at some of his wonderful work when you reserve Italian villas.

When Michelangelo was sculpting with marble he used to study the shape and texture of the stone. He would not envision the final product, but rather it would just begin to immerge from the stone itself, as though that piece of marble was always destined to be that form.

Michaelangelo David & Sistine Chapel

The David is perhaps the most recognisable statue in the world. Michelangelo created it before he was thirty and today you can see it in Florence’s Accademia Gallery. Almost equally famous is his sculpture Pieta. Pieta depicts Mary holding Jesus on her lap after the Crucifixion. Treat yourself to an Italy vacation rental in Rome and you can find Pieta at St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.

Also in the Vatican City is the Sistine Chapel. The Sistine Chapel’s frescoes of scenes from Genesis and the Last Judgement are some of Michelangelo’s best painting work. His most iconic is the Creation of Adam gracing the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Stay around the Tuscany countryside or in glowing Florence on your Italy villa rental to be close to Michelangelo and the Accademia Gallery, home to the world’s most iconic statue; David.

Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was a man of many great talents and arguably a man before his time. He was not only a highly skilled artist, but also a mathematician, engineer, inventor and musician.

Many regard Leonardo da Vinci as the most talented man in history. His prowess at inventing certainly earns him respect and he was an adept painter to say the least. Born near Florence, this Italian genius is one of the most famous men in history.

Mona Lisa, The Last Supper & Uffizi Gallery

His iconic works include the Mona Lisa in the Louvre, The Last Supper in Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan and the Vitruvian Man drawing in the Accademia Gallery in Venice.

The Uffizi Gallery in Florence holds a moving collection of Leonardo da Vinci’s works like the Drawing of a Woman’s Head, Old Man’s Profile and the Adoration of the Magi. Leonardo da Vinci was leaps and bounds ahead of his time in the study and understanding of human anatomy and engineering. His sketches include depictions of tanks, solar power and even helicopters.

Italy rental vacation & Giovanni Bellini

Giovanni Bellini came from a well respected Venetian family of painters. His father was Jacob Bellini and his brother was Gentile Bellini, both talented artists in their own right. Bellini was an Italian Renaissance painter said to have revolutionised Venetian painting. He created richer colours, the likes of which had never before been used, making the art more vibrant and alive.

Bellini also incorporated more shading to compose depth and complexity. He was held in high regard especially to his two pupils Giorgione and Titian (Tiziano Vecelli) who became famous painters later.

Bellini’s works include the Agony in the Garden, Naked Young Woman in Front of the Mirror, many images of Madonna and Child and the Feast of the Gods. The Museo Correr in Venice houses many of Bellini’s great works as does the Accademia Gallery in Venice.

An Italy vacation rental will provide the perfect starting point for you to discover the immeasurable richness of art in Italy and its most famous museums, galleries and artists such as Leonardo da Vinci.
