The traveller will never regret a tour of the amazing Louvre Museum while staying at Paris apartments. The Louvre Museum was originally a fortress, then a Royal Palace and finally in 1793, after the French Revolution, it was designated as a museum.
Presently the Louvre Museum is visited by more than an astounding eight million people a year, as it houses one of the finest collections of art in the world. The Louvre is located in the centre of Paris, centrally located to Paris apartments and is open daily to the public. There is no entrance fee for visitors under 18 and for any visitor on the first Sunday of each month.
Venus de Milo & Mona Lisa
Visitors staying in Paris apartments and French villas will marvel at the amazing quantity and quality of works of art in the Louvre Museum. Amongst the treasures to be found are: Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek and Roman collections, to name but a few. Also there are other treasures on display such as: antique furniture, sculptures, thousands of prints and drawings and beautiful paintings from the European schools.
The Louvre Museum proudly houses the famous ancient sculpture of the Venus de Milo and the amazing Mona Lisa, considered to be the best painting by Leonardo da Vinci. These are only two fine examples of the thousands of works of art zealously kept in the Louvre.
The Glass Pyramid
The Louvre Museum has undergone important changes and extensions during its history and it was during the government of President Mitterrand that it was modernised. The Glass Pyramid at the Louvre Museum is located in the main courtyard of the building.
Due to its modern outline, it caused some controversy at the time of its construction; however, it has nevertheless become an added attraction for the tourist in Paris.
