The Fat Duck in Bray
If you happen to be in or around London, try a visit to the Fat Duck Restaurant, where they serve food that would delight even the most discerning palate. The Fat Duck Restaurant is located in the lovely village of Bray, Berkshire, at around one hour’s drive west from London.
It is not easy to get a table without a well-anticipated booking. However, the wait is definitely worth it as the Fat Duck Restaurant is the proud holder of the coveted 3 Michelin stars and was voted the best restaurant in the world in 2005. What better credentials than these?
The Fat Duck Chef: Heston Blimenthal
How does a happy customer at the Fat Duck Restaurant describe such a culinary experience? “What a treat!”, “Worth every penny!” “A great experience”! The Fat Duck’s owner, Chef Heston Blumenthal, created a unique menu based on the innovative molecular gastronomy.
Blumenthal gained world-wide recognition in just a few years when he transformed what was a normal bistro into a successful story. The décor of the Fat Duck Restaurant is plain and unpretentious, as if most of the efforts have been concentrated on the production of good food.
The Tasting Menu at the Fat Duck Restaurant
The Tasting Menu (highly recommended) consists of about 20 dishes. All of them served in tiny portions using elegant and unusual presentations, which the waiter will graciously describe to the keen customer.
Dishes going from a range of small appetizers, to foie gras, sardine, pigeon, mouth-watering desserts and petit fours, will leave you satisfied and pleasantly full. Some of the most unusual yet delicious combinations are: the Nitro-Green Tea & Lime Mousse, the yummy Salmon Poached with Liquorice and the Smoked Bacon & Egg Ice Cream.
There is a great wine list on offer to accompany this awesome menu. Bon appetit!
